Who We Are
St. Francis De Sales Secondary School, Bolore, Somonpara, Meghalaya is a Catholic Education Institution run by the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales with the assistance of the ASMI Congregation, which was established in the year 2014 with its aim to cater to the educational needs of many children who have no facility to receive the best education. The school envisages an educational programme inspired by the vision and mission of our heavenly patron St. Francis De Sales. The school primarily visualizes inculcating in every child a scientific temper and a critical mind. We cannot but uphold the values of secularism, democracy, justice, liberty and fraternity in all matters concerning the socio-economic and cultural life of the individual and society.
At St. Francis De Sales Secondary School, Bolore, Somonpara, Gambegre,
West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, we envision a thriving learning community
where every tribal child of the Garo (Achik) speaking villages surrounding
Gambegre, who once could only dream of quality education, is empowered to
discover their fullest potential; rooted in the spirit and charism of our
heavenly patron St. Francis De Sales, and guided by the dedicated
Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales and the ASMI Congregation, our school,
established in 2014 under the leadership of Fr. Saji Kaippally and today
led by Fr. Manoj P. Jose, has grown into a beacon of hope for 675 students
supported by 22 teachers and 5 non-teaching staff, achieving a remarkable
five times 100% pass rate in the SSLC examinations under the Meghalaya
Board of School Education, while providing world-class facilities including
a pucca school building, hostel for boys and girls, football ground,
badminton court, children’s park, dispensary, church, and school bus —
all with the singular vision of upholding the values of secularism,
democracy, justice, liberty, and fraternity in the lives of every child
we serve.
The school was founded in 2014 by Fr. Saji Kaippally, who served as its
first Headmaster, laying a strong foundation for the institution. He was
subsequently followed by Fr. Sibi and Fr. John, who continued to lead the
school with dedication and commitment. The Sisters of the ASMI Congregation
have been a constant pillar of support and assistance in the running of the
school. The school today has a pucca building, toilet facilities, and CCTV
surveillance, and is currently in the process of introducing a website and
an ERP software system to further modernize its administration. At present,
Fr. Manoj P. Jose serves as the Headmaster, with Fr. David Nongrum
assisting in the day-to-day functioning of the school.
Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales with the assistance of ASMI congregation run the school for the children in the backward areas, where they can only dream to have such a facility for Education. Ever since the school started, the number of students in the school is increasing rapidly. We provide qualified teachers for their education. We also emphasis on discipline, spiritual and moral values, mental and physical growth and quality education.
Good Practices in the School
Encouraging extracurricular activities: Extracurricular activities like sports,
music, drama, spiritual enhancement, and other recreational activities allow
students to explore interests and skills that do not fall under academic
discipline. The school takes pride in its football ground, badminton court,
and children’s park, which serve as platforms for students to develop
leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities, while
the school dispensary and church ensure their physical and spiritual
well-being alongside their academic growth.
St. Francis De Sales Secondary School in Bolore, Somonpara, Meghalaya,
was established in 2014 with the noble aim of providing quality education
to tribal children of the Garo Hills who previously had limited access
to educational facilities.
